| So we are kind of suspension gurus over here and we get excited when we get to pull out our corner scales and get someone set up. This Z32 came in for some suspension tuning. The owner was ready to have this daily driven toy set up for street and weekend tracking. Fitted with the following: Tein Flex coilovers Powertrix tension rods STILLEN front upper control arms (new version) Stillen rear upper control arms Megan racing rear camber arms Arizona Z Car Big brake kit front and rear (I was impressed with these BTW!) 17inch wheels 245s front and 255s rear Coilovers are not just adjustable for ride height but also balancing and evenly distributing weight to all four wheels. If you want your coilovers and suspension used to it's full potential, the vehicle must be corner balanced. This 1990/2seater/T-top/NA/5 speed tipped the scales at 3216LBS, 3348LBS with the driver, and keep in mind 3/4 full fuel tank load. We begin with placing weights equal to the driver in the driver seat, disconnecting the swaybar end links and taking measurement of the weight.

This car was heavy on the left front and right rear. With driver only its should be heavy on the left rear not the right rear. So we began adjusting the lengths of the Tein coilovers. By shorting(lowing) the front left coilover assembly we reduced load on the front left and distributed it to the other 3 tires. We also stretched(raised) the rear left to increase the load on the rear left. Our ending results were:

w/driver after tuning LF 927 RF 900 LR 778 RR 738 The weight is now as it should be with a drive in place, naturally biased to the left(driver side). Now when we remove our drivers weight we have near perfect balance withing 10lbs left to right on the front and within 14lbs left to right at the rear. w/o driver after tuning LF 883 RF 983 LR 727 RR 713

The end result is that with tuning the car is now balance in all situations. With driver, without driver, and will also now be balanced with driver and passenger.
After balancing we carry on with an alignment as adjusting ride heights affect camber toe and caster. We set this Z up with semi aggressive camber. Now this car has equal loads and equal angles at all four wheels which improves handling, traction and tire life. We have scaled several stock and shock and spring cars and they actually do end up with good results, but its the cars with coilovers installed that have been adjusted to LOOK good but not taken to the next step to PREFORM good. The coilover cars we have scaled come in with pretty screwed up balance and weight distribution before correcting/tuning
